Human-centred Intelligent Cyber-Physical System (CPS) System

  • Designed system architectures & frameworks to integrate reusable physical & cyber components and realize a flexible CPS that can self-adapt to the environment, reduce downtime, reduce human errors, and improve workpiece defect detection.
  • Managed a team to develop a full-stack software system, using Github Projects, PowerPoint, and Adobe XD, that can rapidly build CPSs for mass personalized production.
  • Evaluated the feasibility of numerous open-source tools and prototyped proof-of-concept systems, in Python, Flask, HTML, Arduino, MATLAB and Unity, with unit-tests and best practices, to ease troubleshooting processes for simulations and experiments.
  • Analysed and visualized simulation and experiment data using statistical methods, such as k-nearest neighbour, box plot, ANOVA and Wilcoxon signed rank test, in Python and Excel to categorize the data and find the relationships between various parameters.
  • Applied trendy technologies such as cognitive engine, blockchain, augmented reality, virtual reality, internet-of-things, and deep learning.

Application Development

PhD Student, NUS (2017 - 2019)

  • Created a virtual reality training Android application with a sequential framework using Unity to reduce the training time with higher knowledge acquisition for manufacturing assembly in cost-efficient manner.
  • Conceptualized and programmed a computer vision application using Matlab and Python OpenCV to evaluate the correctness of the operator’s action in hybrid medical device assembly as a feedback to the CPS-based workcell.

  • Aced the project and generated a conference article to highlight the differences between three Labview-simulated adaptive noise cancelling filters for future development of noise cancellation devices.

Product Design

Team Lead of Capstone Design Projects, USM (2015-2016)

  • Led a team of four to conceptualize, design, and create a functional paper puncher with laminating reinforcement based on design-for-disassembly concepts, using SolidWorks and raw materials within the allocated timeframe. The design was submitted for patent.
  • Led a team of four to identify gap, conceptualize, design, and simulated a wind energy harvesting system that can be implemented in the simulated Malaysia environment.
  • Aced the modules and impressed the examiners with persuasive presentations.

Champion, IME Design Competition (2014 - 2014)

  • Designed and created the shell of stackable power banks to enable flexible adjustment of power capacity.
  • Championed the competition as the youngest team member and persuaded the judges with an impressive presentation using advanced PowerPoint skills.

Vehicle Building

Team Member, Shell Eco-Marathon (2012 - 2013)

  • Designed, fabricated and assembled a modular and aerodynamic shell of an electric car using SolidWorks and raw materials as a team player, contributed to the completion of the car on the track.
